Hi furiends! I’m Cheryl, the humom of Loafie and Doughy.

Back on May 14th 2017, I started the Instagram account @loafie.corgi shortly after Loafie came into my life. The account then evolved into @loafanddough on August 23rd 2017, after Doughy’s arrival. Since then, we’ve been on many adventures together, and I’ve decided to start this blog to expand on the sharing of my experiences with both L & D, especially when details are too lengthy for IG.

I’m currently a NAVTA-Approved Veterinary Assistant / Veterinary Technician in training. I’ve been working as a VA for 2.5 years at a small animal (cats & dogs only) hospital, after deciding on a career change. Prior to becoming a VA, I worked in design, having graduated with a BA (Honours) from SFU majoring in Interactive Arts & Technology and minoring in Publishing. I also passed my Certification for Dog Behaviour and Training – Level 1, in March 2019 after developing a keen interest in dog training in order to learn to correct a few of Loafie and Doughy’s unfavourable behaviours.

Outside of work, I enjoy photography and travelling. I also like watching TV (mostly movies) and playing video games as methods of stress-relief. You may find that I occasionally post content (mostly IG Stories) on my personal Instagram account @chxryl. While I do pride myself in being able to craft beautiful imagery, my perfectionism does end up getting in the way of me posting regularly on not just my own feed but also on @loafanddough. With this blog, I’m hoping to be motivated to update more frequently without worrying too much about how my IG feed would look.

I hope you’ll enjoy looking through our content, and perhaps even learn a tip or two from my experience as a Vet Tech trainee. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or if you’d like to see me cover any specific topics related to our lifestyle, pet care, or basic dog training.

Thanks for coming by!
